One of my favorite things to collect are birds nests. Over the years I have collected quite a few. A little while back HGTV asked me to come up with a fun garden-inspired corsage and boutonniere, nests immediately came to mind. I wanted to fill the nest with round blooms that resembled eggs. Ranunculus blossoms were perfect. For the boutonniere, I created a ribbon wrapped stalk of flowers and threaded them through their own mini nest. I think they are just perfect for a spring garden wedding, prom, Easter, or even Mother’s Day.
This week I’m sharing my latest craft for HGTV Gardens. My early 2014 assignments had to do with weddings. Taking inspiration from the gardens and my daughter’s tutu, I decided to make a craft that is not just for weddings. I created this versatile clip that can be featured in the hair, on the wrist, pinned to a dress, or even on a lapel. I have never liked the idea of wearing a dress, or accessory for only one day, so you can do what I have done here. I skipped the wedding and added this flower to my jean jacket. You certainly don’t have to have a wedding to make these. There is nothing like getting a few good friends together over a bottle of wine, chatting and crafting together! Head on over to HGTV Gardens for all of my step-by-step photographed directions.
