I love gardening with chickens. It has been something that I have enjoyed immensely over the years. One of the most beneficial ways to maximize your space in the garden is to think vertically by adding climbing vines. This gardening trick allows you to make the most of the garden space that you have available. The perfect often overlooked place to consider growing vines is on your chicken coop. Vines provide your chickens shade, a bit of protection for aerial predators and a tasty snack that can be foraged through the run. Today I’m sharing my top 8 perennial and annual vines that are chicken safe, hardy, and delicious for both you and your flock.
The kids’ table. For some, this is a dreaded place to be on Thanksgiving. In some families, it’s a right of passage to finally “graduate” to the adult table, where things always seem so much more exciting! This year, I decided to make the day a little sweeter for the kiddos by creating these entirely edible Turkey in the Straw place settings.
As I was shopping for the Thanksgiving dinner, I came across these chocolate turkeys. My gears started turning. I picked up some waffle cone cups. These would make perfect nests. Next, I hopped on over to the Asian section of the grocery store and picked up some rice noodles. They would make the perfect bedding for these turkeys.
To each waffle cone cup, I added the dried noodles, some pumpkin and corn candies, and topped it off with turkey.
I wonder if they’ll let me sit at the kids table this year?
