Chickens Stories from Our Nest

AAAS/Subaru SB & F Prize Ceremony

Just a little over a week ago, I took a trip down to Washington, D.C. to be recognized for my book, A Kid’s Guide to Keeping Chickens. I won one of the AAAS/Subaru SB & F Prize for Excellence in Science Books. I am a bit embarrassed to admit, but I had no idea how prestigious this award was. I am so honored to be recognized next to such accomplished authors.  While at the meeting, I was able to meet amazing scientists from diverse specialties who we, as a society, can thank for the scientific advances they have pioneered.  The conference was a global event where countries from around the world were represented, some even presenting results of their latest research.  I was thrilled to be a part of it all!

The Beekman Boys and Tilly’s Nest

I have had the pleasure of knowing the Beekman Boys for the past couple of years. If you don’t know who the Beekman Boys are, you are missing out. I first discovered Josh and Brent when they were struggling to earn a living and keep their farm. They had a television show called The Fabulous Beekman Boys. It was on for a few seasons and it truly was fabulous!

Windy Willow Homestead Giveaway & Book Review

The other day, I received a lovely note from Nicole of Windy Willow Homestead. I was so excited that she picked up a copy of my book for her daughter. I was also thrilled when she reached out to do a giveaway of one of her lovely fabric coiled baskets and a set of her latest soap adventure- Old McDonalds Farm Collection. This adorable set features a rooster, hen, cow, goat, and horse. They are cold processed and the scent is a refreshing combination of fresh Georgia peaches and ripened raspberries, with a dry down of vanilla.
