I love creating and I am super excited with you all to share that in addition to seeing me on HGTV and HGTV Gardens, I will now be a regular contributor to DIY Network’s Made + Remade! My first post that I did for them is how to create this gorgeous paper flower! I know. Yes, it looks super complicated but this paper wall flower came together so simply anyone, even the kids can make one at home with you. They’ll just need some assistance with the hot glue gun.
This year, we made a tasty treat for the outdoor birds to enjoy until the thaw of springtime. This treat is made with all things that wild birds can use to help them survive plunging temperatures. The kids and I usually always make some sort of treat. For this one, we collected pinecones from the woods, coated them with peanut butter and rolled them in seeds. We even turned them into a heart just in time for Valentine’s Day. Immediately, this sweet and savory treat was visited by a black capped chickadee. I am betting the same thing will happen in your yard too.
If you are like me, you are no stranger to cold hands in the wintertime. Despite my mittens and gloves my hands just have the most difficult time warming up. I also have been known from time to time to dash out to the chicken coop forgetting my gloves. One way that I try and fight the cold weather is by carrying these darling felted heart pocketwarmers in my coat. With some felt, dried lavender and rice, you too can make these. I think they make a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day. You can even try stitching on messages of love if you are handy with a needle.
