I love celebrating Halloween with my kids. Both of my kids do not enjoy being spooked with scary masks or things that go bump in the night, but rather they enjoy the more whimsical side of Halloween. This year, we were especially lucky that my editor at DIY Network had kid-friendly Halloween crafts in mind and our friends at Shari’s Berries sent along a treat to top off our day of crafting. It was a fun day filled with tricks and treats.

It’s hard to believe that Halloween will be here in just about two weeks! Where has this year gone? A few weeks ago when I was hanging out at our local craft store looking for inspiration, I discovered that all the metal gardening hooks and planters were on sale for fifty percent off. Of course, I love a good bargain and I scooped up a few of these darling miniature shepherd’s hooks. Surely, they were versatile for use in my crafting adventures and also in the garden. In my mind, I had conjured up the most darling craft, pumpkin lanterns.
Happy first day of October! This week, I wanted to share a sweet spiderweb doormat that I made for HGTV Gardens complete with its very own spider! I thought that this would be a fun way to greet trick or treaters and fall’s guests.

Black Candy Apples
As the arrival of fall nears, we begin to think about the delicious treats of autumn. In our house, apple picking and candy apples go hand in hand. This year, I decided to put a twist on traditional and make spooky apples. I turned our traditional red candy apples into spooky black candy apples!
Thanks for dropping in today. This week I’m sharing a wreath that I made for HGTV Gardens. I wanted to create a beautiful wreath that could transition from Halloween all the way through Thanksgiving. Having a versatile wreath like this helps to keep cost down and decorating dilemmas at bay.
Fall is officially here! The air is crisp, the leaves are beginning to fall and pumpkins are becoming available in local pumpkin patches, grocery stores and even at craft stores. This week, I took inspiration from coastal living here on Cape Cod and crafted a unique beach chic pumpkin for HGTV Gardens.
This is my latest creation for HGTV. I was inspired by nature and the kids just love taking chocolate candy eye balls from under the raven’s watch. This nest was created from found items in the woods and a trip to the dollar store. Click here to make a raven’s nest of your own for around $20. Just in time for Halloween.

If you know me, you know that I just love pumpkins and gourds and so many wonderful things that come with fall. I love to bring the outdoors in and then I was inspired. I always love to carve pumpkins with the family and get creative. This is my own twist on the traditional Jack-O-Lantern.
