I have always loved creating handmade during the holiday time. I have to say, homemade gifts are sometimes the best gifts. Oranges have always been part of my Christmases since I was a little girl. Some of my earliest memories are making pomanders balls with my sisters at the kitchen table. Did you know that it is very easy to make your own dried orange slices from fresh fruit? These are the inspiration for this fresh citrus and herb garland. It smells delightful and is so pretty to hang across the window panes filled with fresh snow.
It all started with a bunch of orange slices that I dried in the oven. We had an abundance of fresh oranges from a school fruit sale, so I decided to take a few, slice them up and dehydrate them in the oven. It takes a couple of hours and make the house smell so good.
For this citrus and herb garland, you will need:
Oranges
Garden Twine
Assorted fresh greenery
Rosemary Sprigs
Bundles are created with the floral wire and sprigs of greenery and orange slices. Those are then attached to the yarn.
I typically make my garlands at least 8 feet in length. Wherever you chose to hang the garland, simply measure the length of the window, shelf, mantle or what not and add an additional foot to each side.
