I adore peonies. I have loved them since I was a little girl. There is something magical about their fragrant, deep intoxicating blooms and the way that they announce the beginning of summer here in the Northeast. It’s been unseasonable cool here. Spring is taking forever to warm up. We have had a few teasers and then we are back into chilly evenings and cold rainy days. How I have longed for my peonies to show their red buds peeking up through the mulch. I’ve missed not seeing them for a whole year. This month I had the opportunity to submit a tissue paper craft to my DIY Network editor. I decided that I could not wait any longer and made some tissue paper peonies of my own.
Inspired by the colorful blooms in my own garden, these pretties came to life in no time. I just adore the array of pinks, magentas and blushing colors.
Each flower took only a few minutes to create and I love the way that I can show them off in a vase until my real ones bloom in the gardens. The kids even came home from school and asked my where the peonies came from. They were shocked along with my husband to see that these were mere tissue paper imposters. None the less, they were very fun to make. I can’t wait to top off gifts with these tissue paper peonies. I think my friends are going to love them and I think you are going to love them too!
