Simple Thanksgiving Table Placesettings

November 14, 2014

Thanksgiving is almost upon us. Each year, I like to provide our guests with their own little table placesetting  to take home with them. Sometimes, I tuck my guest’s names into the table placesettings. Last year, I made sweet personalized dessert cups each filled with a gourd and succulents.  Other times, I gather things from nature. This year I thought it would be sweet to add some feathers to the miniature arrangements.

Goodness knows, I have an abundance of beautiful feathers after the chickens’ fall molt. I also have a bunch of tiny glass votive candle holders. These lovelies were very simple to create and cleared out my votive holders. (that’s a good thing!) Most large garden centers are focusing on indoor gardening. You can easily find miniature potted African violets, small ferns and kalanchoe. These darling kalanchoe blooms reminded me of fall.

I wrapped the miniature potted plants in a generous handful of sphagnum moss. Then I tucked a feather on the side of each arrangement. Sometimes something so simple as a gift from the garden and a beautiful feather from the flock makes giving thanks easy.
