Black Widow Lamps

September 4, 2013
I know it’s early for fall decorating, but I have been busy working with HGTV Gardens on some Halloween crafts. Today, I’m sharing with you these creepy black widow lace covered lamps complete with spiders and webs! I surrounded the vases with spiny succulents from my garden. These lamps were great fun to make and are a great way to recycle old florist vases that we all save for rainy day projects.
I found this delicate lace at the local fabric store. It reminded my of the olden day photos, when widows would dress in black for days on end after the loss of their husbands. I think at one point I even remember someone wearing this type of lace on some t.v. shows that I watched in the 70’s and 80’s. I know for sure this type of lace can be found in the Haunted House in Disneyland, so that made it just perfect for this craft!
For the hurricane lamps, I journeyed over to the thrift store and got super lucky. For $5 a piece I was able to pick up these  two beauties, blank canvases in my mind, ready to be transformed into black widow lamps.
You can find all the directions over on HGTV Gardens.
