March 2011
I went to visit my good friend’s poor little Silkie that was egg bound. Here she is after she passed the egg. During her treatment, she was kept warm under a heat lamp and was placed here to rest. She made a full recovery.
We are away this week visiting Mickey! Feel free to leave comments and captions for this week’s photos. I can’t wait to read them all when I come back. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this week of photos.

We have come to love our (free-range) chickens too! Esp since they GIVE BACK! We began with 8 little chicks- one ended up a rooster. We nursed then, pampered them but when they were about 8 months along a raccon got into their coop, killed 3 & injured 2. The injured had to be put down, then there were 3. Our rooster & 2 girls. He just started to learn to crow instead of squawk-a few days after the attack he disappeared too! We had trapped 5 raccoons in all!! Now we're down to 2. Our lone 2 sweet girls loyally leave us an egg apiece every day. 1 brown & 1 blue. They follow us like little dogs..they are such a quirky animal! They are a lot of fun to have. (better than our 2 horses!) We are now taking on the adventure of raising a pig!
Wow, you have such an a amazing chicken adventure. So glad you still have your sweet little girls. How fun too to be raising a pig! Now, that is an adventure I have not been on….yet!
