My Chicken Coop Tour: An Update

Today I thought that I’d share another peek at the chicken coop. The landscaping is beginning to fill in and the edible chicken garden is a very popular place. I picked up two plastic garden stools from Home Goods that the kids enjoy sitting on both inside and outside of the chicken run. Wood chips fill in the garden path ways. I find they are much easier to rake back into place after the chickens scratch around in them.

Chicken Coop Tour with Edible landscaping + Chicken Art Giveaway

We had the pleasure of keeping chickens for the past five years. Over those years, I’ve learned a good deal about their overall care, needs, and simple ways to make it easier to care for them. Over the past couple of weeks, I have been busy landscaping around the new coop and run and adding some sweet touches to the inside of the coop. It is still a work in progress, but I thought that you’d like to see what I have been up to! Outside the coop, I’ve planted a garden with edibles and chicken safe plants. Still in their infancy, I love to combine veggies, herbs, berry bushes, and perennials to give the garden a cottage look. Let’s take a little coop tour.

Tour de Coop: Kate in Los Angeles

I met Kate from Farmhouse 38 soon after I won the Blue Ribbon Blogger Award from Country Living Magazine back in 2011. Instantaneously, we developed a lovely friendship. We were two kindred spirits living on opposite coasts. There is just something about folks that keep chickens that makes you feel as though you have known one another all of your lives. Kate is one of those people. I was ecstatic on my last trip to Los Angeles that we were able to workout a visit in person. I could not wait to meet and take a little tour of her newly remodeled chicken coop. How could I resist!
