It’s the height of the summer and also the height of chicken pests. So often these tiny chicken pests such as poultry lice, mites, and fleas that affect chickens go overlooked. However if left unchecked, their populations will boom and thrive to establish their own families to overwinter on your chickens and in your coop. There are plenty of things you can do to help keep pests at bay including keeping a tidy coop, checking your flock periodically for pests, utilizing food grade DE and adding an herbal blend like Critter Ritter to your coop.
Critter Ritter is made by the husband and wife team of Luv Nest. They are based in New Hampshire and have been working together to create delightful herbal coop blends for your chickens. The Critter Ritter includes Lemon Balm, Chamomile, Meadowsweet, Red Clover, Red Raspberry Leaf, Rosemary, Thyme, Comfrey, Nettle Leaf, Calendula Flowers, and Lavender. It’s easy to use. Simply sprinkle it in the nesting boxes and around the coop.
Here, Sunshine is inspecting my handy work. I don’t worry about doing a great job at sprinkling it. The best part is the chickens are happy to help. They naturally scratch in the shavings to help spread it around. Sometimes, they even eat it and that’s okay too. The herbs are a great way to supplement their health and diversify their diet.

I'd like to start with the layer blend, or maybe a combination of that and the Critter Ritter blend.:)
Sounds like a great product! We've had problems with deer ticks attaching to waddles and eye area. Hopefully this mixture will help protect the hens.
I am always looking for herbal blends for nesting boxes. I have been pretty fortunate to not be plagued by any pests, but I would much rather prevent it than deal with it!
What a cool idea! Would love to try this out…thanks for the opportunity to try and win some to try out.
I love Luv Nest critter ritter as an all natural option for getting unwanted visitors out of my chicken coup.
Thanks for the information and the giveaway!

Critter Ritter for sure!
How does this stuff compare with the Nesting Box Blend from Treats for Chickens? I use that and am pleased. Will have to try this though and see what I think.
Both are great and effective. They have different ingredients so I check them out, do your research and see what works for you.
I would love to try the nesting blend- thanks so much for the chance! 🙂

I have wondered about using herbs in nesting boxes. Had no idea where to start. Thank you for the chance to win something natural & healthy for my laying wonders!
Do they even ALLOW chickens in Skokie, IL?
You'd have to call the town and ask. Laws are always changing.
We would like to have Critter Ritter for the winter. We use nice fresh herbs from the garden all summer!
I love dried herbs in my coop and Luv Nest are my favorite. My girls love to eat them as soon as I sprinkle them around, so I don't know if it helps with pests in our coop, but everything smells better and looks prettier.
Thanks for the giveaway
Thanks!!
