Yesterday afternoon, I installed it very quickly with just two screw. I love it. The girls took to it immediately and the best part is that it is staying clean! The plastic parts, red and white, slide out of the metal holder for easy filling, access, and cleaning. My coop is small and it takes up not much room at all. However, I am still thinking of ways to keep it from freezing in the winter time.
Yes, it is sold as a piglet feeder. I turned the label to the back as not to offend the girls. Sometimes thinking outside the box, might just lead to a solution you are seeking.

ReplyDeleteI tickled their tummies as they were roosting last night at dusk. I was so alarmed at how full Coco's crop was, I actually made a point to get up early, and go outside this morning to see if it had emptied. It did.
I ordered one when you first blogged about it. Hopefully mine will come in the next couple of days. Thanks for always sharing your great finds.

How long does a gallon last your 8 ladies?
ReplyDelete3-4 days. They will drink water depending on the temperature. Warmer weather will make them consume more. I keep two waterers. One in the run and one in the coop. Each are one gallon. I change the outside water everyday as it gets dirty. I change the inside one every couple of days. Hope that helps.
